About Scott

My interest in photography began in 1979 at age 14 shooting high school sports. I have had a camera in my hands non stop ever since. For the next 15 years, I was lucky to be able to make photos for the fun and pure love of it as a hobby, traveling the world, shooting surfing and faraway places. By around 1994, I was so busy with photography, I didn’t have time to have any other job, so I made a full time career of it. At this point I can’t imagine having a normal job, or doing anything else.

I know many photographers are proud to specialize in one area, but I love the variety and challenge of doing all kinds of photography. (However, I will say there is no job more important, that I take more seriously, or that requires more range and skill in photography than shooting a wedding. I have done over 400 of them since 1987.) I believe the wide variety of photography I do allows me to bring a broader base of vision, skill and enthusiasm to photographing a wedding.

By specializing in a little of everything, every day is fun and different. I do portraits of all types, weddings, fashion, events. restaurants and food, aerials, architecture, sports, magazine assignments and catalogs, travel scenics, all of it. I think I would get bored doing just one thing, and I appreciate the chance to shoot constantly and keep my skills sharp, and to constantly expand into new areas of photography. It is rare for a day to go by that I don’t photograph something, there is work to be done every day! I also own one of the largest postcard companies in Santa Barbara, so part of my job is to go shoot the most appealing spots in this beautiful town on the most gorgeous days, I do feel truly blessed.
